Beats Headphone Covers
When the NFL and Bose decided to put a ban on Beats headphones, it was seen as a loss for Beats, when in fact, it was an opportunity.
By covering the headphones up, and drawing attention to the fact that the players refused to take them off, even with the ban, you could
make more even more noise for the brand. I designed a pair of covers for Kaepernick and Sherman, and overnighted them to their respective stadiums. The covers had no Beats branding, but were instead customized to each player, sending the message that it was never about displaying a logo, but about the player's right to prepare for a game the way that they wanted.
The covers were intentionally loud and boxy to draw more attention to them. (Think Pharrell's hat)
After the buzz the NFL players would make, other Beats athletes would want a pair of their own to support the cause.
After going through various channels to try and make it a reality, there were too many legal issues for it to happen.
In alast ditch effort, I turned to social media to try and create some buzz. Although they were nowhere to be seen
on Sunday, I got some great support, and a nice message from the CEO of Beats.
